Victoria Falls is an unforgettable top holiday resort  on the Zambezi River  border of  Zimbabwe and  Zambia in Southern Africa.

Transportation

  • Zimbabwe side: Victoria Falls International Airport in Zimbabwe serves local, international and regional visitors. Travellers from far countries often get to Victoria Falls via connecting flights from Harare, Bulawayo, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and recently Spain. The resort city’s airport is about 22 km from Victoria Falls town and waterfalls. The 24 minutes drive makes it easy to do airport transfers. At the airport, there  are taxis that will cost about $30 per trip. You can pay much less if you are in a group. The charge is per taxi. The place can also be reached via a 441 km tarred road from Bulawayo. If using a coach from Harare you might need a break in Bulawayo as the journey is about 8 hours and Bulawayo is halfway between Harare and Victoria Falls.There are roads linking the town to Zambia and Botswana. If you are staying at Victoria Falls Town, the falls are just some 10 minutes walk.
  • Zambia side: The nearest airport is in Livingstone Town,Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport( a.k.a Livingstone Airport).  It gets flights from Nelspruit, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Lusaka and Lower Zambezi National Park. Livingstone town is about 10km from the Falls and very long enough to walk. Livingstone is to Zambia what Victoria Falls town is to Zimbabwe. The only difference is that the Zimbabwean town is right at the falls.  Taxis will cost about $20 for journeys between Livingstone and Victoria Falls.  If coming from Lusaka by road you will need to get a car or a coach that will take you approximately 6 hours to Livingstone.

Accommodation

 Victoria Falls offers a wide selection of accommodation to cater for the needs of different travellers. These range from budget, affordable, exclusive and luxury 3, 4 and 5 star overnight and long stay accommodation in and around the town. There is a selection of hotels, safari lodges, game lodges, bush camps, bed and breakfast, guest houses, backpackers, caravan parks and self catering accommodation.

The whole scene was extremely beautiful; the banks and islands dotted over the river are adorned with sylvan vegetation of great variety of color and form…no one can imagine the beauty of the view from any thing witnessed in England. It had never been seen before by European eyes; but scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.
