Note: Some 2016 National Holidays may be changed. We will have updates after official confirmation.

Zimbabweans take breaks on the Public holidays named above. People working in government and several organisations spend time with families and friends as they take time off work. The holidays are  gazetted every year in a government publication by the Home Affairs ministry in terms of the “Prohibition of Work Act”. In addition to these days, the president may also declare other days to be public holidays. This is usually the case when an important person dies and there is a national day of mourning or burial. This also applies when a public holiday falls on a weekend and the following Monday is then declared a National Holiday.

If you are visiting on these days be aware that you may find some businesses and government offices closed on Public Holidays and Bank Holidays that may also come along. Many resorts and tourist places will still  function around holidays though you may need to check in advance if you want something done.
